What if men spoke women's words and women men's? What would be different? What would be the same? How would it challenge our presumptions and preconceptions?

'ITS NOT ME, ITS YOU' is an ongoing project built from anonymously recorded conversations performed by the opposite gender. The first two films were commissioned by Channel Four as part of their Random Acts Program,

The film uses actors to re-present real conversations. Knowing nothing about who said them or how they were said the actors must find a way to express the lines convincingly. In the process distilling some understanding of how it is to be a man or a woman today.

This project is in development. The subjects of these films revolve around the skirmish line where men and women, the masculine and the feminine have to find some common ground or where they collide, melt or repel. Perhaps you're on this skirmish line now? If you like the films and feel tempted to add your conversation, then I would love to hear from you. I can explain in a little more detail how this simple process works and answer any questions you may have.
