'INNERCITY WEAVER'

A day in the life of Weaver, Emily Mackey.

Emily Mackey comes from a long line of East End weavers and lacemakers. This film was commissoned by Emily as a way of helping her clients appreciate the process and work that goes into a handmade weave. The film has since been shown at, and become part of the V&A Collection, as an element of its record of East London Craftspeople before they were gone.

A year after making this film, The flat in which it was shot was compulsorily purchased by the council and demolished to make way for luxury apartments. Emily now lives in Hastings and has just finished building a much larger wood framed studio to continue her beautiful work.
